[ON] Registering for preschool without coming from the toddler program?
My baby is 13 months old. We’re on a few daycare waitlists in the neighbourhood for both toddler and preschool programs. Ideally, she will stay home with us while her grandmother watches her (we both also work from home) until she turns 2.5 and then can go to preschool somewhere.
What I am wondering is if it is going to be challenging getting into a preschool because children from the toddler programs will move on and take those spots? Or will it be easier because the child:teacher ratio will be higher and more spots will be available?
Being in Toronto I highly doubt we will get into a toddler program at this point, even though I signed up months before she was born. We really just want to ensure we can get into a preschool by October 2027, ideally a preschool that is part of an elementary school so she can move onto kindergarten in the same building.
Would love to hear anyone’s experience with putting their child straight to preschool.
