C722 Project Management Tips and Thoughts
Hey all. I just passed the OA for C722. I wanted to give some of my thoughts and tips to hopefully help others. This class is dense and a lot of the concepts sound similiar and can be easy to confuse. My personal approach was to skim the text book, take the PA, fill out the study guide and then take the OA. Let me expand.
Regarding skimming the text book I copied and pasted each sub-lessons into ChatGPT and asked it to provide Main Points (2-3 sentences each), Definitions, and a Summary. I then copied that into a MSWord Doc. It was that doc that I skimmed/reviewed. At the end of the lesson I took the lesson quiz. At the end of each section I took the section tests. Rinse and repeat throughout the entire course.
I then took the PA and snipped each question with my answer into ChatGPT and asked it to tell me Correct/Incorrect. I used those responses to further sharpen my understanding. If I was confused why something was incorrect I would ask it. After taking the PA I then proceeded to fill ou the Study Guide. I amended it slightly because quite frankly I thought the layout as provided was a little...sloppy. No worries, its an excel doc and easily enough edited. For the study guide, I went back to ChatGPT and copied each term/concept into it and asked it to provide a 1-3 sentence definition with a corresponding example. I personally asked it to have each example relate to an imaginary wildlife restoration non profit because that's a particular interest of mine. Maybe you're into cooking, maybe you're into the automotive industry, sewing, etc. Tailor the examples to be something that will excite you because project management itself is dense and the terms are not particularly exciting.
Next I took the practice test you can find in the Course Resources. Even though I took it I recommend not. The reason is because its poorly written (word salad that seems to be intentionally confusing and misleading) and lead to more confusion than clarity. Taking the PA, studying it alongside the study guide is more than enough.
*** A small heads up: ChatGPT got answers wrong on both the PA and the many more on the Practice Test due to the complexity of the word salad questions and the fact that some of the questions have imagery (Gnatt Charts, Critical Paths, Work Break Down Structures, etc.). Be aware that this was pushing AI's current limits lol ***
The OA lines up well with the PA. Another note, you will be asked to calculate critical paths. The diagrams they show you for critical paths do not look similiar at all to what they show you in the text book/unit quizzes/tests. Not a major issue but it threw me for a curve while I was taking the OA.
This class took me about a week to get through. I am a full time student and I dont have kids. If I was working full time and had other major responsibilities its likely it would have taken a bit longer. If you have previous project management experience you'll probably find this class easy.
