Intel Ultra series compatiblity?

So I’m looking around to upgrade my build. Found and i3 14100 and an intel core ultra 5 225 (cheaper). Couldnt find cheaper older gen cpus in local markets.Havent got the motherboard yet. On paper the ultra is supposed to be more powerful but I have no idea if it has any driver issues with truenas (current build on goldeye).

I was just about to hit the purchase button for 14100 but my worries are that after a while the 1700 motherboards are going to be outdated and finding replacements or cpu upgrades is going to be tough, I dont live in US or europe so delivery charges and local taxes are really expensive.

Anyone tried it? How is the harware transcoding? If it’s not supported are the workarounds stable or would they break after every update and is it worth waiting for truenas for official support?

Goldeye SMART testing?

Bare with me for a second, I just installed truenas for the first time, chose goldeye given it was the latest.

Had issues with my aging nvidia 970 GPU drivers (if anyone has a solution I would appreciate it), but honestly Im not too bothered by it for the time being.

Recently had a failed disk while setting up my apps, replaced both hdds (upgrading from 2tbx2 to 4tbx2). Now I want to set up smart short and long testing and scrub, but I cannot find SMART testing anywhere! Thought about scheduling some through cron but getting results back seemed like a hassle unlike just setting it up through gui and being notified automatically.

I know Im missing something but dont know what!

If you recommend me do it through cron, is theres anyway to properly get notified if test failed starting or if a hdd fails the test automatically?

And how often do you do it?
