Explain compression for TikTok and Instagram

Here are my project settings, can someone please to explain to me like I’m a 5 year old why my colour grade comes out oversaturated and grainy when I upload to TikTok and Instagram. Should I also say I’ve tried exporting it via H.264, H.265 and ProRes (as can be seen here, then encoding it with Handbrake)

Thank you!

Indecision about making my film school Short

Hope everyone is well, just wanted to ask a quick one

Heading into my final year of film school where we have to make a 20 minute short and crews are starting to form. I personally have always wanted to write/direct, however I do enjoy the producer/AD side as I am a bit OCD organised about things.

If I wanted to write or direct a film, I feel like I wouldn’t be able to get any crew for it but I love the idea I have and I think I could do a good job. Alternatively, I work in a role I’m more comfortable in and arguably better at, but maybe on a worse film.

I suppose what I’m asking is do I try take a risk and do something out of my comfort zone when I’ve never properly directed before, or produce another film for someone else that I’m not as passionate about.

All the best lads
