hey y’all! i had my cuff and everything checked by my surgeon today and she said that my cuff looks amazing- like it’s been a few months since my surgery and not 5.5 weeks, which was really reassuring. she cleared me for all activities except for sex, which is cool, i’m fine with waiting. my question is- does anyone have a good workout routine to ease back into working out? like obviously i’m not going to go do a bunch of deadlifts and stuff but i’d like to do lighter versions of my usual routine (chest day, arm day, back day, leg day, core). how do i safely do core exercises? i used to do standing abs, sit ups, and use the captains chair a lot. idk i just feel very unsure. i honestly was just going to focus on walking for a while to build my stamina back up but i feel so doughy after just sitting around the last 5 weeks.

i’m 5 weeks post op and i had a check up about a week ago and everything is healing well and i’m supposed to go back to work on the 11th. my job is very physical (10+ hour days, moving freight, walking 15k+ steps, retail store manager going into our busiest season) and i am not ready for that. i have my 6 week post op check in next wednesday and i am so nervous to ask my doctor to extend my leave by a week. i’m like afraid of her judging me or something.

i am at the point where i’m doing a 20 minute walk in the morning and like a 20 minute walk in the evening and walking around the house and stuff in between. i’ve ventured to the grocery store/target/costco a few times and after i am so freaking wiped. tonight i went to a little art show thing down town for an hour and just felt like crap after, just sore in my lower abdomen and back. i thought i’d be farther along by now.

tl;dr how do i get over myself and just ask for my LOA to be extended?
