Is my Samsung S25 defective?
I ordered it recently, brand new. Ive been having this problem ever since... I believe that for a phone in this price range, especially when it is brand new, it should be expected not to be picky about which charging cable it works with.
The situation is that I recently bought a fast charger as well (also brand new, bought just a few days ago), and I already tested it with 2 other phones (both much lower-end devices), and it charges those without any issues. However, the Samsung often does not recognize it unless I keep fiddling with it — pushing the cable harder, pushing the charger further into the socket (even though it is already plugged in properly), and pushing the cable further into the charging head as well. But everything is already connected correctly before that, and the other 2 phones (a Xiaomi Redmi 15 and a Huawei P30 Lite) charge perfectly fine with the same cable and charger without any of this extra hassle.
Today I found a cable in the Samsung box that was included separately with the phone. It is actually the same type of cable I was already using before (the one that required all the fiddling), and the charging head is also the exact same one I used previously. The only thing I changed was replacing the cable with the original Samsung cable, and so far it has been charging without problems.
Still, I doubt this can be considered normal phone behavior in 2026 if a phone only charges properly with its own original cable... what if the cable gets lost or damaged, etc.?
There was also a case where, after all the “fiddling” with the non-original fast charger setup, the phone initially showed that it was charging, but then I noticed in the morning that it had not actually charged overnight and was stuck around 50%, exactly where it was when I plugged it in.
When it does charge with the non-original cable, it can charge very quickly, but I basically have to supervise it constantly because of the issues described above 😞 Is this normal? Honestly, I regret spending so much money on it if the phone is this troublesome.
