My cat is almost 15 lbs and not sure if he’s fat or healthy for his size

I am taking him to the vet in a few weeks for a general check up but just wanted to see if i could get any insight here. he’s a little over a year and is still slowly gaining weight at the rate he was when he was growing from a kitten to adult (about 1 pound per month). I expected him to stop growing around a year but he’s still gaining weight. I think he may just be a big cat and have a bigger frame, but i’m just a little worried sinew he’s still gaining weight.
