Considering dipping my toe in - suggestions? Is it right for me?

Hi all - I’m new here but not to Magic. Been playing for 15 years and commander seriously for about 2. I mostly like bracket 2-3 as that’s what people at my LGS play but I get tired of it, as well as people who aren’t interested in playing the game well or improving themselves.

I’m curious if any of you think I’d be a good fit for CEDH or if I should just go play more bracket 3-4. The one thing holding me up is my brain just doesn’t click with combo lines well (at least not yet). Every time someone explains it I have to really sit and think hard about it and often the primers in decks that explain a combo still don’t explain how they actually win the game with it.

Do other players just scoop and assume you have it once you demonstrate one combo even if it’s not showing lethal or a win?

Anyway I think if I did start playing CEDH it would have to be Stax as it suits my play style a lot more. Probably Tayam just looking around, but it does seem that that deck still relies on infinite combos.

I’d also probably just be playing on cockatrice or something since I don’t know anyone that plays CEDH much in my area.

Last question - and maybe this comes down more to the people, but are folks generally receptive to new players and being patient? I’ve heard anecdotally that people get annoyed when CEDH players make misplays or are new and don’t get combo lines - the one guy I’ve met that plays is always rattling off cards expecting everyone to be able to connect the dots but I’m just not there yet
