Are there any mods allow you to have more crew members without the Ship Command skill?

Quick rant incoming...

This skill always drove me nuts in-game because I don't think the number of ship crew members should be locked behind a Master tier list, of all things. The player should be able to hire the max number of crew members capped by the crew stations of installed habs because that would make more sense. The bigger the ship, the bigger the crew required to keep it operational.

That being said, I think Ship Command would be more useful if it related to how effective the player is as a ship captain i.e. Rank 1 - you're considered an acting captain. Your crew is happy to have work but will only do the bare/standard minimum. So it's like they will provide the buff related to their skill but only at 30% max. This increases as you rank up and by Rank 4, it will be the full skill buff and maybe a bonus or something.

I think that would be a good incentive to level up the skill because it incentivizes the player to invest in their experience as captain. It's also an evolution of the relationship between a crew and their captain.

Anyway - if you've made it to this point thank you for reading my rant. I'm not sure if such a mod exists (see above) but would be happy to download if there is any. TIA

One of the details that I think is easy to miss, are the unique dialogue companions have with other NPCs. I don't mean during quests but random interactions that happen when exploring together.

For example, Nessa from the Viewport Hotel and Dr. Lebedev in Reliant Medical (New Atlantis) will both have a conversation with Sarah if she's your companion. They're brief conversations but a good reminder that your companion does have a life outside of the Lodge. Just today, I also learned that Andreja knows Kosmos at the Offworld Eatery in Neon!

I love small details like these in the game because it makes the world feel a more alive.

I'm genuinely curious!

Mine would be:

  1. Sarah
    • I really enjoyed the story behind her companion quest. I think it reveals a more complex layer to her character beyond her big boss persona, and this is gradually revealed as she travels with the Spacefarer so reaching her quest actually feels earned. Plus, I love a good plot twist!
  2. Barrett
    • Who doesn't love a good detective story? I think the quest design for this one is the most fun because it's a good balance of investigation and combat. Not a big fan of the buildup and conclusion though because 1. it didn't make sense for the Spacefarer to be funding Barrett's investigation, and 2. I wish we got a kick-ass court scene.
  3. Andreja
    • The highlight of this quest for me is when Andreja does her angry monologue. Other than that, the whole quest feels like an Act One with no Act Two although that was redeemed by the Shattered Space DLC.
  4. Sam
    • Sam's quest feels like being cast into an action movie. The lead? Cora, the spunky kid who ropes you in after her mom goes missing. The co-stars? You and her reluctant space cowboy daddy. It's a high-octane adventure but it's also not that deep. The biggest plot twist imho, is how Cora doesn't resemble her parents.
