The Mothman Prophecies (2002)

“You noticed them, and they noticed that you noticed them.”

Rewatched this gem. The voice and apparent appearance of Indrid Cold will stay with me forever. An excellent creature feature, where every side character is memorable and believable. Possibly one of the greatest creature features where the antagonist ascends beyond the supernatural, and playing with the mystical themes, is lifted to the divine.

Why is my projection-based solver not producing a wake? Check comments for set-up details.

After feedback from yesterday's post, I have implemented the changes, these plots I believe are much more appealing than the busy 2 x 2 figure I posted.

In 1.5 months, I went from coding the 1D advection equation to solving 2D incompressible cavity flow, with validation using data from Ghia et al., 1982, using Chorin's projection method and explicit finite differences. It was incredibly rewarding and I have no plans in stopping. Open to feedback!

For linear PDE problems such as the 1D advection PDE, one can use Von Neumann analysis to determine the stability region for which a solution's error will remain bounded. However for non-linear systems such as the Eular equations, how does one determine the maximum time step for instance? I see in some regions online that the courant number must be held below 1 to ensure stability however where does this come from?

‘They invited me to come with them. I had the feeling forever. Then it was morning.’

I rewatched this 2 nights ago, it reminded me of how wild Christopher Walken was in that film! But, my god, does this film get it. It understands how an alien abduction film can be simultaneously imbued with horror and mysticism, that is almost divine; Faces of God, masks of God. A movie that is similar to this is The Mothman Prophecies. This film succeeds both as an absurdly bonkers merspiece of cinema
