Baby pigeon recovery...❤️ How can I help?
A fledgling I posted a couple days ago, found laying on the street in a terrible condition after a cat attack. Doing better! With a badly hurt feet though. (second pic: it preferred to sleep on a shoe.)
I can't believe how it pushed through that first night of pain and breathing issues with only some saline water to her wound 💔 and woke up the next morning flying and on survival mode, not letting me grab it. Its strength and will to live is admirable. 😭 That morning I took Mani (how I've taken to call it) to be looked at by the vets of an animal welfare program, who then gave me antibiotics to apply them to the wounds.
Tried to teach it to eat some canary seeds, and it did it on its own when I left! I'll add some eggshells as "grit" while I get more stuff for that. Also drank a little bit of boiled egg yolk mixed with water. Haven't found mixes for pigeons in my area, but I've thought of getting a mix for chicks 🐤 or parrots, or lentils. I got some vitamin B complex but haven't started giving it to Mani.
⬇️⬇️⬇️ Everyday around 3-4 p.m it calls out for other birds, and it breaks my heart 😭 my room is a safe space in a house with 13+ pets but Mani is bored and annoyed. I would like to know what you guys think I should do after it has recovered? The place where it was found was a sad road, its mom nowhere to be seen. I suspect it strayed from her when it got attacked...should I take it to that place? Or slowly reintroduce it to the outside with a harness? I really don't want it to d1e of hunger outside or something of the sorts, nor do I want it to live an unhappy life. Thank you to the kind people who saw my initial post and supported Mani. ❤️🩹
