Help an recommendations needed!
Hello! I'm pregnant with my first: a baby girl due in July. Since the beginning, both me and my partner were sure of using cloth diapers to avoid harsh chemicals on her skin and to avoid as much disposable waste as possible. Now we are looking for cloth diapers to buy and we're not sure on what type must be better for us. This is what we think so far:
- All-In-One -> looks easy to use, but a lot of work to wash and dry.
- All-In-Two -> not that much difference with All-In-Ones
- Pocket -> I don't understand the difference with All-In-Twos (is it just the way of holding the insert?)
- Prefold -> looks really difficult to fit in correctly
- Fitted -> looks like the easiest system
We already own 5 newborn + 5 size 1 or 2 + 10 bigger ones. I'm not sure about the sizes because they are at my mum's place. My mum used them with me and my brother 28 years ago and they're in really good condition. I think they'are all-in-twos. My goal here is to buy the amount that we need but not extra. We will alternate with disposable ones for outings and trips. We are in Europe and we don't own a dryer. we plan to sun dry as much as German weather allows us, also to remove stains. I would love to buy second-hand but I don't know where as we just moved here and I don't really know much from the area/culture yet. My questions are the following:
- What is your favourite type and why? Would you change the type depending on the age of your child?
- How many would you recommend having of each size? Are there any types that last longer size-wise?
- Should we just start trying and go from there? I don't want it to be an extra chore once baby is here so we don't go for the easy option and buy disposable ones because they're easier to find.
Thank you in advance!
