Aontacht continues to be operational and running, united after defeat of anti-democratic coup attempt by Tromlach. https://aontachtmedia.ie/

A clique of members, of the Aontacht Media "Executive" Committee, have in effect, conducted a self-coup of the magazine by their own admission, manoeuvring, without the knowledge or consent of the general membership, and with limited knowledge of other members on the committee, they appear intent on purging those tied with me, which includes the majority of technically skilled members and many skilled writers. Contrary to the allegations of me leading a supposed red brown horde, these people constitute a diverse group of socialists engaged in an array of many social causes. 

On the 7th of May 2026, they attempted to seize control of all Aontacht social media accounts and websites, while trying to expel me; they have however crucially failed to take control of the organization’s resources and infrastructure, due to a lack of popular support and efforts to stop them. We have full control over Aontacht, all social media, infrastructure and website. The clique has a handful of people. We have 35.

As a result of this, the clique is moving over to the moribund Tromlach magazine. 

They have created a long document purporting to explain their actions which was publicly posted on social media.

The document justified this by digging up the political sins of my past, by exaggerating my ties with controversial figures, and transfiguring personal acquaintances into political ties. Myself and those sympathetic to me, have come to believe this to be a power grab orchestrated by the old leaders of Tromlach, 2 of whom ended up in the Executive Committee for Aontacht.

For these reasons, myself and those sympathetic are doing what we can to restore the functioning of Aontacht, which was plagued by practical problems stemming from the clique’s lack of interest in the actual maintenance of the project.
