How does one recover from pet loss ?

I had my beloved Lab for almost 12 years, he was an old rugby player that never gave up! I drive, write and talk about him as if he’s with me. I’m at the cross roads if I ever can get another. It’s the hurt that is unbearable. Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. 🙏
