Possibly Moving to the area
Hi! My husband just had an interview for a job in Grant's Pass so we were able to visit the area, and we liked what we were able to see in the two days we were there. We mostly focused on the Medford/Jacksonville area, and I suppose I'm just trying to get a sense of whether we will be able to build a community there, since both of our families are spread out across the country.
We currently live in a small town in Virginia that really hasn't been great for us, we've found few like-minded people to befriend, and we're a bit too far from any major cities to do our main socializing there.
We are late thirties, looking to start a family soon, progressive politically, not religious, and enjoy food/beer, live music, exercising, skiing, hiking etc. From what I've read, southern OR is quite red/MAGA/MAHA leaning, with pockets of blue like Ashland. But I've also seen that a lot of the population in those areas are retirees or college students, which completely misses us demographics-wise.
Will we be able to find and build a village in this area? We hope to stay for a long time if the job is a good fit. Thanks!!
