House of Cases

I got a PC secondhand off FB marketplace a few months ago because anymore I just feel like I'm abusing my laptop when I open Steam.

New PC specs:

(minisforum BD790i, R9 7945HX, 4060ti 16gb, 32gb DDR5)

It came in an unmarked matx case (~20L) which I think I have accurately tracked back to Bluecase.

Anyhoo, I didn't like how much dead space there was in the case so I elected for a new one and I wanted to get as small as I was comfortable with. Turns out that was a Fractal Terra (~10L). I got it together, (also switched from Win11 to Bazzite) and was very happy.

Except, the 4060ti is a dual fan and leaves a bit of a gap on the PSU end of the case. So I convinced my wife (Sims 4 Professional) to trade me her RX 7700XT which really fills out the Terra nicely. I finally felt content.

Then my wife said she felt like a smaller case for her would be nice. Thankfully she liked the look of the Bluecase and decided she wanted to move out of the DeepCool CH260 (~30L). The Bluecase looks much better with an MATX board anyway. (B650 wifi + gaming, R5 9600x, 4060ti, 32gb DDR5)

Anyway, some photos: OG Bluecase, size comparison with Terra, Terra after swap, OG DeepCool, and Bluecase after swap

Note: I have since added an exhaust under the PSU in the Fractal which dropped temps maybe 1C? Not a huge change, but I'm looking into a change of heatsink and possibly fan since the 7945hx runs hot (~80-86 under load) and I heard the minisforum stock coolers suck. Let me know what you guys think!
