I bought a copy of that book a couple of years ago and I’m glad to be able to share some interesting pictures with you, fellow Pharma fans!

Low iron saturation… but ‘normal’ ferritin, CRP and white cell count 😅

Hi there!

I’m a 35F whose bloodworks have been choppy her entire life. I’ve gotten iron infusions in 2022 and 2024 due to restless leg syndrome. Today I got an interesting and confusing result:

80,1 ng/mL ferritin (it used to be around 30 before the infusions)

18,6% iron saturation (not the lowest I’ve had. My lowest has been around 16%)

348 TIBC (not the highest I’ve had. My highest has been over 400)

White cell count absolutely normal

13,1 gr/dL haemoglobin (better than my pre-infusion levels, that were around 12)

37,5% haematocrit

2,3 mg/L CRP (no inflammation then. It’s always been around that level)

What the helly is going on? Has that happened to you? My doctor is going to see me in a week, but I’m a curious mind.

A colleague is going to be a dad and he invited me to his daughter’s baby shower. I’m going to crochet a Call the Midwife blanket for tiny Sara. I haven’t crocheted in some months, but I’m quite good at it. I think.

Here’s the tutorial: https://youtu.be/L1XVJ9Q16CQ?si=JWnTJSNVvXlLyJsR

Yarn: 2x Nako Lolipop in 81117. 1x Madame Tricote Paris Kitty Baby in 388.

I was going to buy just one crochet hook, but I couldn’t resist that pack 😆😆😆 I own some of those sizes already, but I don’t mind duplicates.

I saw an Instagram post a couple of days ago and it reminded me of that afternoon in 2016. I had absolutely no idea about yarn. Today, I knit, crochet, do embroidery and cross-stitch, but 10 years ago I didn’t know anything about crafts.

An aunt asked me to buy some yarn. She gave me the label and told me to go to certain shop. After work, I visited that place and asked a salesman about that yarn. I told him I didn’t know about yarns beforehand. He asked me something about it and I didn’t know how to answer (and my aunt was busy, I couldn’t call her). He got extremely pissed and aggressive. I worked in customer service in 2015 (at a telecom), so I’ve always been kind to salespeople and reps, because I know how it feels like. I wasn’t rude at all, just naïve and young, but he acted like a piece of shit, pardon my French.

I’ve noticed a pattern (pun intended) in small yarn shops. When the salespeople see old ladies, they’re kind and tolerant, but, for some reason, they get irritated at younger people. Last year, a saleswoman got angry because I had given her ‘the wrong request’. I ended up leaving the shop. As a young-ish lass (almost 36), who looks younger, I’m kinda afraid to enter those shops. And I’ve seen them treating younger people in a rude manner, in general. It isn’t just me. They treat us like they’re doing us a favour.

What are your thoughts?

I’d love to see the Econochildren explored in The Testaments. Especially comparing the Daughters to the Econodaughters. We all know the Daughters go to Pink and Plum schools, but, where do the Econodaughters go? They also must learn to run a house (however small) and perform their ‘wifely duties’. Do their mums teach them? Eden Spencer Blaine, the only Econodaughter that appears in the universe, was apparently taught by her mum, but she was born before Gilead. What do you think?
