Fish oil capsules go rancid

Fish oil capsules go rancid

I bought tata salmon fish oil capsule for ₹500. This was my first fish oil capsule. I bought most expensive one(salmon fish+triglyceride form)

Though looks like fish oil doesn't suit me as it triggered migraine(headache)

So i didn't use it for 2 months and now thought to try again. It was kept in my cool almirah away from sunlight. I opened the container, it was smelling weird. I remember how arpit(trustified) said to check rancidity of fish oil time to time by simply "cut open and smell" the capsule

I did it and oh my god the smell. My god i am never ever cutting rancid fish oil capsule ever again.

Now the issue is that it is not expired, far from expiry date.

It has preservatives too. So how did it go rancid?

I remember when i was studying fish oil before buying, many foreigners said always keep it in refrigerator.

Conclusion- here in india, very less people know about rancidity in fish oil. Shop owners also never keep it in fridge and sell openly in hot and humid environment. Guys don't take risk. Keep in fridge and cut open 1 capsule every month and do the smell test.

(And yes i am throwing all 80+ capsules left in the container)
