Can’t bear weight after lumbar to pelvic fusion. Is this normal?
I had a revision to my original l5-s1 fusion done 2/23 to extend it to my pelvis on 4/9 after the screws in my S1 broke off a few weeks after the original surgery. Since the second surgery I have not been able to bear any weight on my right leg at all since surgery and even moving my left leg causes extreme pain in my right pelvic bones. I asked the surgeon if this was normal the day I was released on 4/11. Originally I was told “No. This surgery shouldn’t have caused that.” by the surgeon the day I was released and again by his nurse practitioner on the 13th when I called because the surgeon forgot to call in my muscle relaxer and Celebrex. I was also told during that call that if my pain wasn’t controlled with what they gave me I needed to go to the hospital. I ended up having to call an ambulance 4/15 when I couldn’t get out of my chair even with help. A day after being admitted I spiked a fever of 102.6. My bloodwork is all out of whack and they can’t seem to find a cause. Any thoughts? I can attach screenshots of my bloodwork if that’s of interest to anyone? I really just want to know if not being able to walk or bear weight is to be expected or if my surgeon is trying to cover his ass again. I will attach mri reports for the above imaging in the comments.
