I tried getting into my undergrad uni for grad school and got rejected. Is there a pattern going on.

I gained some work experience as a substitute paraprofessional and worked specifically with kids who have behavioral disabilities! I decided to apply to my Alma mater and they turned me down because I didn’t have experience in research in my area or getting any awards. I also suspect that a lot of universities would rather have people who do undergrads outside where they attended! What is your guys take.

(Btw I have received 2 acceptances in Fall, 1 Rejection for my area).

I bombed my interview with Action Behavior Centers because of the way they interview

Have you had companies where they interrogate you for the most mundane issues. Like I was heavily interrogated because of the fact that I didn’t have a Psych or Ed major (I can only get into interdisciplinary because my uni was super competitive and had bad grades from earlier years and also I didn’t know I was going to get into this field post graduation). I also was heavily interrogated because I only worked as a SPED Para for a few months and Regular ED sub and the way Action Behavior Centers was like almost like as if I was being interrogated by cops investigating a criminal. Are all companies like this and if so, it seems I am screwed at this point!

Is there other ways you can get your hours as a BCBA without getting hired as a BT?

I keep on fumbling my interviews at ABA companies because the way they ask questions is like as if they are trying to interrogate you and when people come off interrogating, I get easily overwhelmed and nervous. Instead of just asking simple questions about experiences. How do I keep calm in these situations?

Just got rejected to the Online MS in Sped urrrrrrrrrrrrgggggh

I am a proud class of 2024 who graduated in ALED department (and was completely clueless about what department I wanted to specifically pursue). I applied to the SPED department and wanted to become a BCBA and they rejected me because there was so many applications for the department I wanted to get into. Schools just want people who know things ahead of time and it’s sad society has to be based on perfectionistic mindsets.
