So I just finished ff2 remake (haven't played the og yet) and I've played it in the original dub so it didn't register at first, but later I was going through the soundtracks, which included some of the scores in English, and Mayu straight up admitting >!to having fallen off the hill on purpose caught me so off guard?? "The pain was horrible, but I was happy. I knew I had tied you to me, made you mine and mine alone."!< I knew weird sibling dynamics were a staple in the series, and this title is no exception, but I guess I didn't expect something like this from her, or at least I didn't expect for them to spell it out like this.

Additionally, I've played ff1 prior to this but my memory is already kinda hazy. Neither Yae nor Munakata mentioned anything about their past (about Sae or Itsuki) in the game, right? It makes me so sad that Sae has been waiting for her sister all this time, being so certain that she would come looking for her eventually and Yae just.. never did. Never even mentioned her and then died the same way Sae did, by strangling. What a heartbreaking series.
