Am I in good standing for Princeton, Upenn, Cornell, MIT, JHU, and Rutgers Honors
Hi guys! So I posted this with less detail before but everyone was telling me I have no chance, which made me dive deeper into my ECs! My two new projects are: a Search and Rescue Robot, App, and AI system that detects what type of injury you have through your camera, delivers medical supplies according to your wound. And, I’m starting a Science Club in my school where’d we do afterschool labs with professors and prepare for the olympiads!

ECs- So far I’ve done:
Leadership & Service:
President, WCT Key Club: As President of WCT Key Club, I lead community service initiatives that combine leadership, outreach, and direct humanitarian work. Through organizing projects and recruiting volunteers, I helped generate over 300 additional service hours while completing more than 150 hours of service myself. I organized coat and clothing drives, food distributions, hygiene kit collections for Newark Emergency Services, and community cleanups such as restoring Branch Brook Park. I partnered with organizations including Kiwanis International, UNICO National, Newark Youth Career Pathways, and the Bridge of Books Foundation to expand our impact. I volunteered at the Franciscan Charities coat drive, where I packed food, distributed hot chocolate and coffee, and helped individuals select coats, hats, and scarves. I also supported Verona UNICO events by assisting with fundraising, handing out candy to children, and ensuring event safety, and volunteered at the Kiwanis Breakfast with Santa by serving food and cleaning tables. Beyond traditional volunteering, I created community-centered initiatives such as a “Color A Smile” event where students made artwork for senior citizens, a Black History Month interview project highlighting student voices, and a leadership and community service academy with Newark Youth Career Pathways. I also manage the “wct.keyclub” vlog channel, which documents our service experiences and encourages student involvement through storytelling and outreach.
President, Student Council: As President of Student Council, I represent the student body while working closely with the school administration to improve student engagement and opportunities. I organize and lead multiple pep rallies and school spirit events that strengthen community involvement and school culture. I assist the principal with planning initiatives and coordinating activities that support both students and staff. In addition, I helped make Coursera courses available to students to encourage academic enrichment and career exploration beyond the classroom. Through this role, I have developed leadership, communication, and organizational skills while serving as a voice for the student body and advocating for student needs and ideas.
Founder, STEAM Youth Initiative (develop and lead workshops introducing children to science, technology, engineering, arts, and math): As Founder of Creative Hearts Outreach, I lead a community-centered initiative focused on service, creativity, and youth empowerment. Through the organization, I develop and organize outreach events that combine leadership, community engagement, and educational enrichment. I host workshops and service projects that encourage students to use creativity and collaboration to support others, while also promoting accessibility to STEAM education and volunteer opportunities. I coordinate events at parks, libraries, and community spaces, manage outreach and partnerships, and work to create welcoming environments where young people can build confidence, leadership skills, and a passion for giving back. Through Creative Hearts Outreach, I aim to use creativity and innovation as tools to strengthen communities and inspire the next generation of leaders.
Perkins Innovation and Modernization Board Member: As a Board Member for the Perkins Innovation and Modernization (PIM) Program, I help represent and support a selective career-readiness and STEM initiative focused on expanding opportunities for students. I work alongside program leaders to help plan and fund educational experiences using federal grant funding, ensuring students have access to resources that support academic and professional growth. Through the program, we organize workshops in partnership with Newark Youth Career Pathways, fund pre-college and enrichment programs for students, provide stipends for summer internships, and coordinate college visits to expose students to higher education and career pathways. In this role, I contribute to decision-making, student advocacy, and program development while helping create opportunities that make advanced educational and career experiences more accessible to talented students.
Volunteer (150+ hours; led projects generating 300+ additional hours)
Organized coat and clothing drives
Fundraised for students in need
Volunteer with Special Olympics
Food distribution and community cleanups
Volunteer at University Hospital
Community service in a low-income neighborhood in North Carolina
Partnerships with Kiwanis and UNICO
STEM & Engineering:
Founding President, Science Club: As the Founding President of the Science Club, I am establishing a student-led organization focused on expanding hands-on scientific learning and research opportunities within my school community. The club will host afterschool laboratory activities, collaborative experiments, and STEM workshops designed to encourage curiosity and innovation across multiple scientific disciplines. I also plan to build partnerships with professors and STEM professionals to expose students to advanced scientific research and mentorship opportunities. In addition, the club will prepare students for participation in science competitions and olympiads, helping members strengthen their analytical, collaborative, and problem-solving skills while fostering a stronger scientific community at school.
President, FTC Beaks n’ Bolts Robotics Team: As President of FTC Beaks n’ Bolts 11180, I lead a competitive robotics team that consistently ranks among the top teams in New Jersey and within the top 100 worldwide. I help oversee team operations, collaboration, and competition preparation while contributing to engineering, design, and strategic problem-solving throughout the season. Through teamwork and innovation, our team regularly advances to state qualifiers and maintains strong competitive performances. In this role, I help foster communication, leadership, and technical growth among team members while guiding the team through the challenges of robotics competitions, engineering design, and iterative problem-solving.
Team Leader, SkillsUSA Urban Search & Rescue (SkillsUSA) : As Team Leader for SkillsUSA Urban Search & Rescue, I lead the development of robotics and emergency-response technologies designed for disaster and rescue scenarios. My team engineers search and rescue robots capable of navigating hazardous urban environments while focusing on real-world applications beyond competition. In addition to designing robots for simulated rescue missions, we develop prototype emergency medical devices and robotic systems intended to assist injured individuals during urban search and rescue operations. Our work emphasizes engineering design, mechanical systems, safety testing, and problem-solving in high-pressure scenarios. We also collaborate closely with the County Sheriff's Office to better understand emergency response challenges and explore how technology can support first responders and improve rescue operations in disaster situations.
Biomedical Engineering Project: Designed a dressing assistance device for an elderly disabled woman to improve independence and daily living
Personal Search and Rescue Project: I am designing a life saving machine, app, an AI system to rescue a victim in an emergency. Using the app, you’ll scan your injury with the camera, and the AI system will detect what injury you have and provide you ways to treat it quickly and call an ambulance. Since I am a robotics student, I am making a robot to deliver a med kit and hand you the supplies you need! But, if I sell this to the military, I’d make it so a drone flies to your location to deliver supplies. I am working closely with the Sheriffs department, and I hope to pitch this project to the military.

LoR:
Predicted to get great LoR from college professors, Senator Booker, and CTE instructor (I have great relationships with my teachers!)
Would appreciate honest feedback + school. Please don’t reply if you’re just going to say I have no chance and not provide ways on how to improve, I’m looking for advice, not assholes. Thank you!
