This week I received two job offers with nearly identical pay. One is with the State of Nevada, the other was in the private sector. The private sector job offers 100% paid health insurance and 4 weeks of PTO with a shorter commute and has great work culture reviews on Glassdoor.

The states PTO and pension are really attractive to me, but I understand that take home pay wouldn’t be as good as the private sector job.

My question is: Are the state benefits generally worth the cut in pay? What job would you pick in my situation?

For context I am 30 years old and already have a really good start (1 years salary) saved for retirement in my 401k.
