My schedule and grad timeline might be completely ruined because of my school's academic advising department and I have no idea what to do about it

Hey y'all,

I'm a sophomore Mechanical Engineering student at University at Buffalo, and I'm currently facing some pretty severe issues with my schedule. During the fall semester, I failed Calculus III, and that barred me from taking Dynamics and Differential Equations this spring semester. I had several Academic Advising meetings over Winter Break to try to figure out what my next moves should be, and it was recommended that I take Dynamics and DFQs over Summer 2026, which would put me exactly where I'm supposed to be for Fall Jr. yr. Part of this recommendation was that I take these missing courses at community colleges (FLCC and ECC) online to avoid paying UB's high credit hour cost. I thought this was the perfect plan and kept it in the back of mind all semester

Earlier this month, I started the process to get myself into these summer courses, only to find that THEY DON'T EXIST. Those schools don't offer summer sessions for those classes and never did. I called around to other local community colleges and was told the same thing- those classes simply are not offered over the summer ANYWHERE. So my options are either I pay $3K to take those classes during summer at UB, or I take them this upcoming fall, which would make me graduating in 4 years impossible.

Its no secret that UB's Academic Advising department is unspeakably bad, but this? Lying to my face and tanking my entire timeline? What am I even supposed to do now? Do I have ANY recourse? I went back to the Academic advising office in person (I have another appointment on Thursday now. I doubt it will be of any use). I also spammed the motherfucker that lied to me with emails, but I've gotten nothing. It feels like nobody is willing to work with me or wants to help me and I am at a complete loss. Right now I'm so anxious and pissed I can barely think straight. Does anyone know what I can do about this?

My schedule and grad timeline might be ruined because of the Academic Advising department. What should I do?

I know our Academic Advising department here is unspeakably bad, but this? Lying to my face and tanking my entire timeline? What am I even supposed to do now? Do I have ANY recourse?

I went back to the Academic advising office in person (I have another appointment on Thursday now. I doubt it will be of any use) and spammed the advisor that lied to me with emails, but I've gotten nothing. It feels like nobody is willing to work with me or wants to help me and I am at a complete loss.

Has anyone here had a similar experience? Any advice? Thank you.
