Mail day, featuring my first Allen & Ginter. These are from an old friend who I actually reconnected with (after damn near 20 years) via this subreddit!

Spent a lot of time trying to find a reasonably affordable Swiss degen style sword and ended up taking a chance on Everest Forge based on price. Just got these today and they look and feel awesome.

Other than a shipping snafu (caused by DHL and some unpleasantness in the Middle East....), I'm happy with my purchase. The weight is good, the blades are straight and sharp, the style is what I was looking for (albeit of course not museum -quality reproductions or 100% accurate - see the handle variations between the long sword and short sword), and it will go well with my swiss-peasant soldier era Ren Faire goals. Far better than the mass produced Chinese or Pakistani options.

I spent a lot of time talking with the owner of the forge over email and Insta as we worked out the shipping issues, and apparently swords are pretty new to them but they're working to keep getting better. At a price point of a few hundred dollars I'm very happy with the quality and style.

These are now much safer in sleeves and toploaders vs a 3-ring binder (!!!) surrounded by a bunch of junk wax.

I love a low-grade Sandy and a blue foil.
