Protoarc EC200 - 2 Month Update

Been using the ProtoArc EC200 daily for about 2 months now and figured I’d share an update since height/build can make a big difference with chairs (I’m 6'2").

Overall, I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised. Coming from an Ikea Markus this has been a solid step up in comfort and adjustability.

What I’ve liked:

  • As a taller user (6'2"), the seat depth adjustment is a big win – I can actually get proper leg support without feeling cramped
  • Lumbar support is genuinely effective once adjusted properly (I have set at lowest setting)
  • Mesh back is holding up well and stays comfortable even during long 6–8 hour days
  • Recline/tilt is smooth and actually useful for switching between focused work and relaxed positions
  • Overall comfort has been consistent with no real break-in issues or discomfort surprises

Armrests / future upgrade note:

  • Current armrests are fairly basic (height only), which is probably the weakest part of the chair right now
  • That said, ProtoArc have announced a 4D armrest upgrade coming later this year, which should be a big improvement and honestly addresses one of the main limitations

What could still be better:

  • Seat is on the firmer side (not uncomfortable, just not plush)
  • Headrest is fine once set, but not the easiest to fine-tune
  • Still a fairly plastic-heavy build overall (but expected at this price)

Overall after 2 months:
For a taller user, I’d say the EC200 works surprisingly well. The adjustability (especially seat depth + lumbar) really helps it fit better than most budget chairs I’ve tried.

It’s not a “premium feel” chair, but it is a very capable budget ergonomic option that actually works well for taller users. The upcoming 4D armrest upgrade also makes it more promising long-term.

Would still recommend it if you’re 6ft+ and want something ergonomic without jumping to high-end pricing.
