Tom Bihn article on Delamination

Pretty decent article, I didn't knw you could just take it off. I have an old used Tom Bihn Tri-Star, its not peeling yet but there are spots in the interior where its def showing its age. I don't use it much and always mull trading or selling it, but maybe if I still have it when the times comes... I'll just take it off. I will take their advice an get that stuff to reapply DWR on some of my older bags, maybe an old jacket or two.

Big Ass Tote Bag

Hey its only $24. Somebody posted this awhile back on a facebook group, and I bought one on a whim. I was intending to use it to store some winter clothes for the summer, but I got it and turns out its super useful. They just put out a bunch of other colors so I may pick up another.

Wandrd Sale - Travel Wallet 75% off $18.50

I never even knew they made a travel wallet, well they must have made too many. Wandrd always has sales, but I take note when something hits 50% off or more from any maker as thats rare. I ordered one to give it a shot, I already own an Alpaka zip travel wallet which is sort of needlessly big for me, but useful if I travel with the family and hold everyones passports and papers on a trip. This ones seems to be a little smaller and as a bonus can hold those bigger foreign currency bills (my standbye Big Skinny curve is small and sized for american dollars only).

I also bought the Medium tech pouch in High Gloss, just because It looks interesting lol. I used to own a medium tech pouch and liked it, but ended up giving it to a friend and getting the small tech pouch as I didn't need all the space. But y'know I did like medium so I have an excuse to sport some hi gloss bling.

I was sort of interested in the big 60L carryall duffel as I use big duffels ford seasonal clothing storage. But I'll hold off for now, cheapo mil surplus duffels are better for my use case and Wandrd design is similar enough to my old Aer Capsule Max that I can talk myself out of it lol.

In general Cotopaxi's bright colors are too much, but for luggage they actually help you pick out your bag in a see of black luggage coming off the turnstile. I sorta like the interchangeable colored wheels, i would go nuts mix and matching them. (but I'm not replacing my aerotrunk any time soon lol).

I like stuff like this, hardware, materials, construction. I'd like to try one out, see if it easily slips open. So far the v buckle is the most positively secure, but those sort of are too big (long) for some applications. The maglockz sort of buckles are lighter and shorter but stuff with a side slide type operation does slip. Cobra buckles are my fave but they are heavy and big. New stuff is fun.

So I got the Perfect Bag x CTactical collab bag earlier this week and used it for a couple of days to take my laptop to work and back. It works well for this purpose, easily fitting a laptop, lunch, umbrella, and a spare jacket. I noticed this is a pretty handy size for records too, but the zippers are just slightly not wide enough to make doing that easy.

That leads to the first of the slight changes that I think would improve the bag., extend the zippers past the edge, you see this sometimes on these types of openings, maybe it upsets the box shaped opening at the top, but would give it more capability.

2nd change, is maybe add a little to the depth, like an inch maybe? I see what its going for as a slim vertical laptop tote but a little more depth wouldn't hurt the bag, maybe a crease down at the base and sides would help keep it flat while allowing for more expansion. The bag itself is not too structured so will expand using its own surface area, but since the base stays the same size, it just bulges.

Last change, add a zipper to the bottom of the back pocket, like the Tom Bihn briefcases, this gives that back pocket a secondary purpose as a luggage pass through if you need it.

Otherwise, I like it. Its different, and it happens to fit my sort of daily laptop/work bag use case. I own plenty of briefcases/laptop messenger type bags: Bellroy Tokyo Totepack, numerous Waterfield and Tom Bihn, Kargo, Defy, DSPTCH, Aer. This is a nice unique entry from CT and the associated charity seemed like a good cause.
