Added 55 Terence McKenna talks from Psychedelic Salon that weren't in the Uutter archive

Spent some time going through Lorenzo Hagerty's Psychedelic Salon catalog and pulling out every Terence talk that wasn't already in the McKenna collection on Uutter. Found 55 that were missing.

We're now at:

Total transcribed words: 4,283,647

Total listening duration: 23d 12h 46m 51s

All of them are now up with:

  • Lorenzo's intro/outro removed (just the Terence content + any audience Q&A)
  • Full searchable transcripts
  • Download links

A few highlights from what got added:

  • We Are Descendents of Stoned Apes
  • New and Old Maps of Hyperspace
  • Death By Astonishment
  • Plants That Talk
  • Hacking Reality
  • The Extraterrestrials Are Here!
  • McKenna: Hermeticism and Alchemy Part 4
  • In the Valley of Novelty (Part 6)
  • Terence McKenna on Art Bell Part 2

Full credit to Lorenzo Hagerty — none of this content would be in the public record without his decades of archiving through the Psychedelic Salon podcast.

Hello!

I've spent the last few years building what I'm trying to make the most complete searchable Alan Watts archive that exists publicly: https://uutter.com/c/alan-watts — currently 296 entries, every transcript searchable, all the major series cross-referenced (alanwatts.com canon, Pacifica Radio Archives KPFA broadcasts BB0527/BB0528, Eastern Wisdom and Modern Life KQED-TV, curated releases, etc.).

After really exhaustive searching — every torrent I could get, archive.org collections, YouTube rips, blog posts, Wayback Machine, Discogs, the WFMU community archive, the Kurt von Meier AUM archive, the iHeart podcast — there are a handful of recordings I still cannot get. Some need community help. Others need money.

### Why this matters now

The recordings are physically aging. Magnetic tape from the 60s deteriorates; old fan-blog Mediafire/Drive links rot every year; YouTube rips of rare LPs get DMCA'd by the rights-holders' enforcement contractor (I watched one disappear during this research). The MEA / Electronic University / wattstapes.com label that Henry Jacobs ran out of his Mill Valley house has effectively been wound down — the IMPREC054 *Fine Art of Goofing Off* CD that restored Henry Jacobs's collaborations with Watts (literally rescued from tapes found under his floorboards) is now SOLD OUT on Important Records. Each year these become harder, sometimes impossible, to find.

### A frustration I'll just say out loud

The Alan Watts Foundation has done a strikingly poor job of archiving its own subject. They sell curated bundles (the "Remastered Audio Series" boxes on alanwatts.com) but don't expose a comprehensive catalog. There's no public bibliography. Recording dates and venues aren't preserved as structured metadata anywhere they publish. Pacifica catalog references aren't surfaced. Sibling lectures (the BB1335 series — *Game Theory of Ethics* is freely available, but *Metaphysics and Morals* the companion talk isn't) are split across paid/free silos for no clear reason. And meanwhile they're actively DMCA'ing YouTube uploads of the underlying material, which suppresses the community efforts that have actually been keeping this stuff alive. I genuinely respect what Mark Watts has done with the *Being in the Way* podcast — that's been a real preservation contribution — but the broader institutional effort feels embarrassingly thin for someone of Alan Watts's stature and how much of his philosophy was about freely sharing.

### The specific asks

**Two KPFA broadcasts that look paywalled-only at Pacifica Radio Archives:**

  1. **Metaphysics and Morals** — Pacifica catalog **BB1335.01**, KPFA 24 April – 12 May 1966, ~54 min. Distinct from his "Mysticism and Morals" (BB4189) which I have. Companion lecture *Game Theory of Ethics* (BB1335.02) is free on the iHeart Alan Watts Archive podcast, but BB1335.01 is held back.
  2. **Stop Now** (part of "Three Against Destruction: Can We Survive 1999?") — Pacifica catalog **BB2265.01**, KPFA 1 December 1969 – 1 January 1970, ~13 min. Watts's contribution to a 3-part anthology with John Letiche and George Bergstrom. Mark Watts's podcast has covered ~75% of the catalog but not this.

If anyone has these recordings are in the US and can order one or both from Pacifica directly (international ordering is a hassle and licensing is friendlier domestically), I'll reimburse the full cost upfront via PayPal/Venmo/Wise plus a thank-you for the trouble. Once I have audio, the talks go into the public archive — so you're making them freely searchable for everyone.

Pacifica's order page is at pacificaradioarchives.org (search the BB# directly). Estimates from comparable Pacifica licenses put each at ~$30–60 USD.

**Henry Jacobs / Important Records titles that include Watts:**

- IMPREC054 *The Weird Wide World of Henry Jacobs / The Fine Art of Goofing Off* — sold out, but if anyone has a copy or a rip, this contains the only restored versions of Jacobs's "Philosophizing"-era conversations with Watts that I'm aware of

- IMPREC299 *Around the World With Henry Jacobs* — $12.99, still in print at importantrecords.com, "Alan Watts returning for a visit, too"

If you own either, please get in touch — even a tracklist with timestamps for the Watts segments would be useful.

**Other long-tail items I'm still hunting** (DM if you have leads):

- alanwatts.com canon: **Interdependent Origination** (Way Beyond Seeking series), **Zen in the West** (Eastern and Western Zen), **Philosophy of the Tao Pts 3 & 4** (Tao for Now)

- Full **Reality, Art & Illusion** (4-cassette MEA seminar; only Pt 1 and Pt 3 surface online)

- Any unauthorized rip of original MEA-label cassettes that hasn't already been re-released by Mark Watts

Comment or DM if you can help with any of this. The goal is making the bibliography complete and freely accessible before too many of these recordings rot or fall behind paywalls permanently.

Thanks 🙏
