Professional 22HP won’t start.

I have a 2015 Simplicity Regent with a 22 horse professional series. Today I was mowing, shut the mower off to move a few things, and when I got back on it would not crank. When I turn the key to the RUN position, it clicks like it’s engaging the starter whether my foot is on the brake or not. When I turn the key to the start position, nothing happens. I turned the key to the run position and jumped the solenoid and it cranks but will not start. It also now smells like fuel which leads me to believe that it isn’t getting spark. I haven’t had time to dig with it being Mother’s Day and verify there is no spark. But has anyone run into this or have any ideas? It almost seems like there’s a problem with the ignition switch the way it clicks in the run position and then nothing in the start position.
