Looking to up my game and need a suggestion

I have a setup at home with an SDR that works very well for me, but I wanted to have a radio that I could take with me when we went to our weekend property. I just installed a long wire antenna there and plug in when I go. Right now I'm using the DP-666 pictured. I mostly listen to the HF band, but bump up 162 mhz for weather conditions before a kayaking trip. I like it because it is easy to use with one hand and I really like the vertical orientation. If I could find something a bit more rugged that would be a plus. SSB would be great and a headphone jack is a must as my wife is not a fan of the noise. I'm thinking a Tecsun PL386, but I see some reviews of that that mentioned AM blow out. If you folks have any thoughts before I drop some money I would love to hear them.

Tried listening to shortwave with the hackrf

It did not work well at all. I'm using a K-480WLA magnetic loop antenna that pulls in a ton of stations with my Airspy HF+ discovery and even does pretty good with the RTL-SDR v4. The hackrf is nearly deaf on MW and SW with the same antenna. I feel like I might be missing something, but it might be that this just isn't the right tool for the job.
