First time installing a smart lock. I removed the inside part of the current lock and when I tried to replace it with the supplied backplate from Yale I realized that the screw holes and deadbolt mechanisms aren’t aligned.

The outside face (w/ keyhole) has a piece coming through the door (under deadbolt).

The old inside face also has a piece that aligns through the deadbolt. The new Yale inside face does not have this. The Yale installation guide shows that there’s a piece coming through the deadbolt from the outside face.

Any potential workarounds here or is my current lock just not compatible with this Yale lock?
