[OC] Some Values Based on Elements

My apologies for the post beforehand blatantly advertising my substack link. I'm trying to gain some traction and get overexcited sometimes. 😅

The poems I write will always be philosophical, political, emotional, or all three in nature. Here's the first one I posted to the substack:

Order, in any shape or form, is superior–
anything less, or even more, is inferior.

Adaptation is the only way to grow,
to conquer any obstacle, to face any foe.

Bruce Lee once said: be like water.
But water alone does not capture the human experience.
Be also like fire, air, and earth—
that’s the key to living without regret.

Fire –though dangerous, provides warmth,
cooks your food,
and in the crackle of its flames
can even lift your mood.

So be like fire:
capable of destruction when necessary,
but also compassion.

Air lives in the clouds–
free to travel the world,
detached from earthly troubles
without effort or sound.

Weightless, they exude greatness,
never trying, yet always becoming.

So– like the clouds,
learn to detach
to truly be free.

Earth demands effort to move.
Yet it behooves Sisyphus to do so,
day after day, night after night,
pushing the boulder with all his might.

No matter the pain,
no matter the strife,
no matter that this is his whole life.

From earth we learn consistency and focus,
stubbornly staying stuck to your locus,
to the values that make you... who you are.

Now back to water—
bear with me as I wander
through the changing path of a river.

Water shows us to be flexible–

Adaptive, to go with the flow,

Whether fast or slow,

Because ultimately all the water in that river ends up in the same ocean.

Order. Fire. Earth. Air. Water.

The natural world holds its lessons—
if you’re willing to look,
and never afraid to learn more.

Gratitude

I'm grateful today that I went back for my water bottle when I left it at the gym.

I'm grateful that I was able to get so much done, for both my music and my writing projects.

I'm grateful today that I had the privilege of going for a walk in the morning.

I'm grateful that I ate well today.

And lastly, I'm grateful that despite all the stress I feel from work or otherwise, I'm able to stay positive and have fun.
