So I’ve got two feral couples nesting on my balcony currently. One pair had only laid one egg, whereas the other has two.
They’ve been both nesting dutifully and I’ve been checking on the eggs every now and then.
Now the one egg from the pair is missing. It’s been at least 2 weeks that they’ve been sitting on it and there’s no evidence of cracked shells around. Their nest is arguably more covered than the other pigeon couple’s nest and they still have both their eggs.
Is it possible they removed the egg themselves?
There aren’t any egg shell pieces or evidence of the egg ever being there. If a predator got it, it surely would’ve gotten the two eggs from the more exposed nest, so clearly it’s not that.
The only outcome I could think of is that they rolled their egg out of the nest and off of the balcony? But with the way their nest is set up, it would actually be quite a feat. I’ve never been so confused lol.
