Dear Sir/Madam,

I have written this letter to provide a different POV from an Assamese native person of Assam. Although India is an country, actually it's like a subcontinent, different ethnicities living in different States. That'swhy issues faced by people of Assam is not same as people of Maharashtra or Tamil Nadu.

Assam is a border State,, bordering with bangladesh. bangladesh is a muslim majority country. After 1971, many Bangladeshi citizens migrated to Assam and West Bengal. Illegal Bangladeshi immigration has become a huge problem for Assamese indigenous people that includes Hindu, muslim and Christians and other indigenous faiths. Ethnicity, Language, Culture, Cloths of Assamese people are different from Bangladeshi illegal immigrants and migrants from other states outside Assam. Both BJP and Congress govts in Assan in past hasn't done much to stop illegal immigration and to stop illegal border crossing. I try to understand your human rights angle, but human rights of Assamese people, various tribes living in Assam matters too.

Let's talk about Assamese indigenous muslims. Assamese indigenous muslims speaks Assamese, even have assamese regional dialects in their speech, knows about Assam History, belongs to same ethnicity as other indigenous people from Assam. Again, Indians are NOT SAME all over India. Assamese natives can identify non-Assamese migrants living in Guwahati or anywhere in the State. For people of assam Ethnic identity comes 1st, before religious identity. Everything is not plain Hindu-Muslim issue. There are evidence everywhere to back my argument. Interview Assamese muslims, they listen to musicians and composers dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Zubeen Garg same as every other Assamese.. At recent funeral of Zubeen Garg, Hindu-muslims everybody together mourned him as united Assamese.

All Assamese muslims have voting rights in upcoming election. It's the politicians doing politics with Non-Assamese migrants, illegal or otherwise. Assam has complete right to stop illegal Bangladeshis from voting. Although votebank politics is done by both corrupted BJP or Congress party by entering Bangladeshis or Non-Assamese migrants into voter lists of Assam, to get their votes.

Assamese people have NO problem with Assamese native muslims. We have problem with migrants from other states or illegal Bangladeshis( called as MIYA in Assamese slang) trying to impose their culture, ideology, language on us. We don't want Assamese to lose status of state language, we don't want extinction of our folk festivals like BIHU, our arts and music. Stop comparing issues of Assam with mainland India or other parts of the World..

It is my request that you do responsible journalism and interview NATIVE Assamese locals before making up Your own conclusions.

Recently when gogoi came to my hometown election campaign r karone, the entire crowd was filled with Bangladeshi immigrants.

Jun eyare nohoi, teulukok dekhi gom pai. Barely 20 jon manhu in a crowd of hundreds were Assamese. In that rally, he continuously kept blabbing about how he would provide land back to the immigrants, national identification r u kotha koi asile. well am not shocked, he has been pro-bangladeshi since ages.

The thing is nobody actually cares, all of this bs that's happening today, be it riniki bhuyan r case or kunki r case, we are the ones who are unknowingly becoming sandwiched in the middle.

Every wondered je bangladesh aru assam r border area kio strong nohoi? well, its pretty simple. profit.

Another case, ive had a worker , who is an immigrant.

she washed the dishes once and my mom was going to pay her 100, xeyaye nohoi she also gave her food, some rice to take home and some fruits for her mother. yet she started arguing je mane ekue diya nai and stuff, and that's how she started threatening that too death threats of what she'd do to my mother. "manuhor agot marim" w her bangladeshi accent.

and i thought je maybe? etae sage enekua miya dekhilu but naah, similar stories moi mur neighbour r pora xunisu and mur classmates too. their workers also do the same. gali diya di, gol kata and stuff, brutal mane, ejone tu koise je gu khuwam ne kiba. Amare maatit ahi, amake dhomki?

please think about the other serious issues. and vote for the lesser evil. at the end of the day, sob eke but jun olop kom papi, choose them.
