I bought a used Contax G2 with the Zeiss Planar 45mm f/2 about a week ago, and after my first test roll, the autofocus seems seriously off.
These were shot in SAF mode, and the shutter speed was fast enough, so I don’t think this is motion blur or camera shake. But in almost every frame, I can’t find any clear point of focus — it looks like nothing is properly sharp.
The camera seemed to confirm focus when shooting, but the results are consistently out of focus. In some situations, the viewfinder also showed both near distance and infinity blinking at the same time.
Does this look like a G2 body AF/calibration issue, a 45mm lens issue, or something else? Since I only bought it a week ago from a used shop, I’m wondering if I should ask for repair, calibration, or return/exchange.
Any advice from G2 users would be appreciated. I’ve attached a few sample images.
