DHMO vs PPO — worth saving on premiums? (SF dentist recs too)
Trying to choose between a DHMO vs PPO dental plan and would love some real-world input.
From what I’ve gathered:
• PPO = more flexibility in choosing dentists
• DHMO = cheaper premiums, but more limited network
• DHMO seems fine for basic stuff, but PPO might be better for bigger procedures
I’m currently leaning DHMO for the lower premiums, but a bit worried about being locked into a bad provider.
Questions:
• If you have a DHMO, do you feel limited when you need more than just cleanings?
• Anyone regret going DHMO vs PPO (or vice versa)?
• Any SF dentists you love (or would avoid), especially within DHMO networks?
Feels like the actual dentist matters more than the plan, so referrals would be huge!
