large drawing tablet with both linux and android compatibility (ideally on Bluetooth)
Looking for a large tablet for home use only. I'm using Linux as my OS on my work station desk (Krita, GIMP) and also have an Android Tablet (HiPaint, Krita) which I like to use when sitting at a free standing table. Wireless connectivity would be a big plus but from all the reviews I've consumed there's often a lack of drivers for Linux/Android specifically.
Well, I've narrowed it down to 2 candidates from sevenpen's recommendation list but am also open to other suggestions:
- Xppen Deco Pro XLW
- Huion Inspiroy Giano 930
These come around to the same price if I also order the order the recommended pen upgrade for the Giano (Slim Pen PW550S). I value initial activation force a lot. My favorite traditional tool are brush pens actually for that exact reason. I've been also eyeing the flagship Wacom Intuos Pro L which seems to be about the best pen tablet on the market (with the lowest activation force too) but the price is quite steep and part of it seems to be brand recognition and the bundled (trial) software. Neither of which is of use to me; still I value customer service and build quality a lot which seems to be high with Wacom.
The Deco Pro also comes with an extra remote but drivers will be an issue and at best I'm expecting restricted functionality. I don't mind tinkering with the initial set up and know how to use the command line but I'm not a programmer.
Currently swaying towards the Deco Pro but open to all suggestions. If you have first hand experience with a large tablet and how convenient the experience is on Linux/Android that is doubly appreciated. For my Android tablet (12 inch display) specifically it would be great if there's an option to reduce the active area of the drawing pad to the screen dimensions so that there's a 1:1 scaling.
