I got so burnt out designing corporate apps for 10 years that I finally coded my own. The dev side humbled me lol.

Hey everyone,

I’ve spent the last decade doing UI/UX design, mostly building safe, soft apps for clients. I finally decided to bootstrap my own project from scratch and tackle the productivity space.

Honestly, I was just tired of habit trackers feeling like a coloring book. Cute little badges, gamified streaks, toxic positivity... none of it worked for me. I didn't want a tool that tried to "motivate" me; I wanted a system for pure discipline. Something that felt like a mission briefing.

So I built WAR MODE.

Designing the dark, high-contrast UI was the easy part. But building the entire app from the ground up in React Native? Definitely a massive grind that gave me a whole new respect for developers. It’s built entirely for execution, with zero fluff.

We are currently in closed testing and gearing up for the Play Store launch very soon.

The Giveback:

Since this is my first real solo launch, I’m giving a full 1-year free subscription to the first 10 people who join the waitlist here:

War Mode - The habit tracker that demotes you when you slack off

I'm building War Mode because I kept failing with habit apps that pat you on the back for showing up once a week. This one doesn't care about your excuses.

What it does: You start at Tier 1 with manageable daily missions. String together completions and you advance to higher tiers. But here's the catch – miss your missions and you drop back down. No streak counters to baby. No motivational messages. Just a system that treats your commitment like it matters.

Each tier (1-5) raises the stakes. Tier 5 is War Mode – the top level you earn by proving you can show up when it's hard, not just when you feel like it.

Why you might actually use it: Because you're sick of apps that throw confetti for the bare minimum. This is for people who know motivation is bullshit and discipline is the only thing that works – but they need a structure that doesn't let them negotiate their way out at 6 AM.

My questions for you:

  1. Does the threat of losing progress hit harder than chasing a streak number?
  2. Why did you ghost your last habit tracker? (Be honest)
  3. Would you actually pay $29.99/year if it meant something held you accountable when you didn't want to be?

Currently in closed beta. Real users, real feedback, no fluff. First 10 on the waitlist get 1 year free.

War Mode - The habit tracker that demotes you when you slack off

I built War Mode because every habit app I tried felt like a participation trophy factory. This one actually holds you accountable.

What it does: You start at Tier 1 with basic daily missions. Complete them consistently, you climb to higher tiers. Miss them? You get demoted. No streaks to protect. No "you'll get 'em tomorrow, champ!" messages. Just cold, tactical accountability.

Each tier (1-5) gets progressively harder. Tier 5 is called War Mode – and you have to earn it by showing up every single day.

Why you might need it: If you're tired of apps that celebrate you for doing the bare minimum, this is the opposite. It's built for people who know discipline beats motivation, but need a system that doesn't negotiate when their brain tries to quit.

My questions for you:

  1. Would the fear of getting demoted motivate you more than chasing streaks?
  2. What's the biggest reason you've quit habit trackers in the past?
  3. Would you pay $29.99/year for something that actually keeps you honest?

Currently in closed beta with strong feedback. First 10 on the waitlist get 1 year free.

I got tired of habit trackers feeling like coloring books, so I built one for pure discipline. Looking for early feedback! 🚀

I’ve spent the last 10 years as a UI/UX designer building safe, soft corporate apps for clients. But whenever I tried to find a habit tracker for myself, they all felt like a toy. Cute little badges, gamified streaks, toxic positivity... it just never worked for me. I didn't want to be "motivated," I wanted a system that actually enforced discipline. Something that felt like a mission briefing.

Since I couldn't find it, I decided to bootstrap it myself. It's called WAR MODE.

I designed the high contrast UI and built the whole thing from scratch in React Native (which honestly humbled me so much on the dev side lol). It's built specifically for people who just want to lock in and execute. Zero fluff, no BS.

I spent 10 years designing apps for clients. I finally coded my own, and honestly? The dev side humbled me.

Hey guys, long time lurker here.

So I've been a UI/UX designer for like a decade now, mostly building design systems and corporate stuff for other companies. But I got super burnt out making the same safe, soft designs and wanted to actually build my own thing from scratch.

I decided to tackle the habit tracker space because honestly, most of them feel like a coloring book. Cute little badges, streaks, toxic positivity... it just never worked for me. I wanted something that felt like a mission briefing. Pure discipline, zero fluff.

So I started building WAR MODE.

Designing the high-contrast UI was the easy part. But building the whole thing out in React Native by myself? Definetly a grind. Going from pixel-perfect Figma files to actually making the logic work taught me a lot about why devs always pushed back on my designs in the past lol.

I am currently in closed testing right now and gearing up for the Play Store soon. It's honestly terrifying putting your own work out there after hiding behind client projects for so long, but it feels good to finally ship something that is 100% mine.

Would love to connect with anyone else making the jump from design to dev, or anyone building in the productivity space! Let me know if you want to see the landing page and I'll drop the link in the comments. 🚀

Edit: A lot of you are asking for the link, I dropped it in the comments below! Giving away 1 year free to the first 10.

Ways to control doomscrolling?

Hello fellow humans. (I'm not an AI, really), how do you manage that urge to keep scroll on useless apps every free minute you got? Do you use some tricks when the urge kicks in, apps maybe? And if so, what are you using and how's that going for you?

I've tried exercises when my mind was everywhere thinking about "just 15-20 minutes didn't hurt nobody" - and ended up in a super sayan session made from 2 hours of brainrot videos.

I'm mostly curious about ways to attack this problem and if any of you wants to share some experiences it would help a lot!
Cheers!
