Best subclass for each generic class? (PS1)

There's certain famous combos like Wizard/Samurai (highest MA gets best use of Draw Out) and Monk/Thief (highest PA for best stealing success). But have you ever thought about the best subclass for something like an Oracle or Lancer? Just curious if anyone else has ever tried to craft the ultimate version of every/any of the generic classes. Could be a fun way to play through the game.

Anything I should know before starting LUCT (SNES version?)

LUCT is obviously a very mechanically complex game and I haven't been able to find a good newbie guide. I've read through the Classes (gonna try to get a Lich ASAP for sure) but that's about it. Anything I should know? Try to avoid spoilers, I'm looking for stuff like "oh, don't bother equipping X, Y are way better" or "the X class seems good but it's garbage."

In particular I watched a random video of a Let's Play of LUCT and the guy was in Chapter 2 but he noted that the shops all still sold the most basic equipment, they didn't appear to be getting better stuff to buy. I'm wondering if he did something wrong and there's something like "make sure to do X so that shops will get new items"

Thanks!

▲ 16 r/JRPG

I just found [this awesome topic] (https://www.reddit.com/r/JRPG/comments/udihij/help_rjrpg_finish_this_comprehensive/) by u/VashxShanks while googling and it's an awesome list of recommendations, especially for rarer types of RPGs, but it hasn't been updated in four years. There's plenty more to add I'm sure.

Before anyone says it I can't take up the task myself because I actually haven't played all that many JRPGs, and I don't even own any current-gen consoles.

(Also, if you didn't know about that topic, now you do! It's really good, go check it out!)

I just beat BoF2 for the first time (I did get the good ending) and I'm wondering about some areas that I never ended up doing anything in. I'm wondering if I missed some secrets.

  1. There's three "Huts" throughout the world map that I didn't find any purpose for. One is west of the Sea of Trees on a little peninsula, it has a cat in it. Another is west of Highfort down by the beach and has a generic male NPC who says something like "I don't have anything to do with it" or something. And there's a third I can't remember where but it was completely empty. Anything to do in these huts?

  2. At the top of the right tower in Windia castle there's a room with flashing lighting coming through the windows and two NPCs who nervously say something like "haha, it's just flashing like that cause it's magic, everything is under control." I never did anything in that room. Did I miss something?

  3. In Evrai in the entrance of the Grand Church there's three doors, the middle leading to the church proper and the left you come from later, but I never went in the right. It had bars blocking you from getting to a staircase. I never got down there. Actually there was also a nearly identical room in Windia, not the one that opens up to let you go down to get the Mark of the Bird, this one was on the opposite side of the castle. Was there any way to get to either of those?

I know I missed getting Boombada and I didn't get Seny early before Grand Church since I only learned about that today, so I know I definitely missed a few things. If anyone knows, let me know! Thanks!

HUGE SPOILERS FOR BREATH OF FIRE 2

I'm near the end of the game in BoF2, talking to the Dragon in Gate, and I noticed a little weird thing with the Dragon Tear.

When you're asked to choose Wait or Defeat, the dragon's Dragon Tear is orange (which is mid-range iirc.) If you select Defeat as you're supposed to, it does the "Dragon Tear up" sound effect, but doesn't actually change color, it remains orange. And when you confirm you want to defeat the demon, nothing further happens.

However, if you select Wait, the Dragon Tear goes all the way to rainbow, the best. But! If you then change your mind when asked to confirm, and choose Defeat now that you've already said Wait and changed your mind, the Dragon Tear goes to dark purple, the worst color.

Anyone else ever notice this? Do you think it means anything? This is actually my first time playing so I don't know if this affects the ending.
