C4 Tactical Field Solar - an absolutely fun watch

C4 Tactical Field Solar - an absolutely fun watch

I've had my C4 solar (DLC in all black) for about a week now after my friend's recommendation and it's quickly become one of my favorite 'throw-on' watches in the box. So much so that I haven't even had the chance to try other straps. It's been in the kitchen, working in the yard, on runs, and at concerts.

It feels solid, 41.5mm actually looks nice on a 7" wrist (never mind my photo angle here, i think it appears smaller), and the lume is bright. Love the raised numerals and dial layout.

My only nitpick here is that my seconds aren't quite aligned but I understand lots of Vaers have that. For the money it's been a ton of fun. I'm not a tactical/outdoorsy/hunting/fishing guy that would warrant this watch but I took a chance and glad I did.

First Vaer, second watch of my 'great watch awakening' after years of not wearing anything

I am rediscovering the styles/types I like, and to me the 'passed down from your cool globetrotting dad/grandfather' look seems to be what draws me in. Was worried this would look too small (38mm on a 7" wrist) but i'm really enjoying it - it's been dependable and looked great on a full weekend of outdoor activities from golf to gardening to housework. Love the case style and the bit of orangey-red on the timer

Only real downsides i've found are the (lack of) contrast with the hands and the nylon strap. It's a bit hard to read or glance down at in full sun if you're in a rush. The khaki nylon strap that came with it was pretty uncomfortable and thin/plasticy to me so I swapped it out for a (slightly) better Crown and Buckle in "greige"

Definitely won't be my last Vaer, currently eyeing a C4.
