Trading S/R on XAUUSD using 5min zones + 1min entries

Trading S/R on XAUUSD using 5min zones + 1min entries

I’ve been testing something on XAUUSD that’s been more consistent than I expected, but I’m still not fully convinced it’s anything special so I wanted to compare notes with other people trading similar price action.

What I’ve been doing is basically marking out support and resistance on the 5 minute chart, not anything fancy just obvious reaction zones where price has already tapped and reacted at least a couple of times. Then I drop down to the 1 minute chart and wait for price to come back into those areas during London or early New York, then look for some kind of rejection or slowdown before taking an entry in the direction of the higher timeframe move.

Entries are nothing strict yet but usually I’m waiting for something like a failed break of the level or a quick push through and immediate rejection back inside the zone. Stops are still the part I’m trying to refine but right now I’m either putting it just beyond the last swing on the 1 minute or outside the full 5 minute zone if it looks clean enough. Targets are usually the next liquidity pocket or the opposite side of the range if it’s obvious.

Backtesting it has been a mix. Some days it looks really clean and other days it just chops around the levels and takes you out early. Gold especially feels very session dependent with this, London tends to give the cleaner moves while mid New York gets messy.

I was comparing this approach with a couple of other tools out of curiosity, including some signal apps I’ve seen on the Play Store like Sniper Entries , one of them had a similar idea of marking zones and sending alerts when price reacts. Nothing I fully trust yet though, most of them look decent at first but then you realize a lot of the levels are basically hindsight.

Anyway I’m still working through it and not trying to turn it into anything mechanical yet. Curious if anyone else here trades S and R this way on lower timeframes and how you’re handling entries and stop placement, especially on gold

Been working on a 5min S&R strategy with 1min entries on XAUUSD and found something interesting along the way

So I've been putting together a personal strategy around support and resistance on the 5 minute chart for Gold. The idea is pretty straightforward, identify key S&R levels on the 5 min then switch to the 1 minute for a precise entry when price starts reacting. Been backtesting it for a while now and the results have been encouraging but I wanted to see how other traders are approaching the same concept.

While doing my research I went through quite a few apps on the Play Store that claim to do something similar. Most of them were honestly disappointing, either too vague or just repainting levels after the fact. But then I came across this one and it genuinely stood out. It seems to be working on almost the exact same logic I have been testing.

Went through the signal history and some of the calls are really clean, saw some hitting over 200 pips on XAUUSD. What actually made me take it more seriously is that not everything wins. Some signals do expire in losses and that felt more honest than those apps that only show you the good trades.

Has anyone here actually used this or traded a similar approach? Would love to hear what results others are getting: Sniper Entry - Forex Signals
