Lamotrigine and anger and irritability?
Can lamotrigine help with anger and irritability?
22F with bipolar/BPD. I used to take lamotrigine 200 mg + fluoxetine 40 mg, but I stopped for over a month. At first I felt great, then everything came back… anger, irritability, depression, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
I restarted lamotrigine at 25 mg about 2 weeks ago, but I don’t feel much better. I still get really angry and frustrated. I’ve been self-medicating with Poxide and similar stuff to calm down.
I don’t want to go back on antidepressants because they gave me anxiety and possible mania before, and I really don’t want to deal with switching meds again.
Does lamotrigine actually help with anger/irritability? Should I increase the dose or not?
