• Tell us about your background and current employment situation, your job hunting situations and challenges, and why you're seeking help

Hi folks, I started applying around late december (late I know) of last year, which unfortunately caused me to miss out on the initial hiring wave. In total I probably applied to around 100+ companies by now and have gotten around 5 OAs. I've passed the OA for Amazon and IBM, but given that it's mid april, I don't really have that much faith so I'd rather just shift focus onto preparing for new grad instead. I am primarily just looking to fine tune my resume in preparation for new grad. Ideas for what I should do (e.g. projects, technologies) are welcome!

• What positions/roles/industries are you targeting?

Targeting SWE roles (backend, big data, distributed systems preferred, but fullstack is okay as well) in big tech (FAANG and its adjacents, unicorns). If there's any cool projects or technologies that you think can make my resume stronger for backend & big data, please let me know.

• Where are you located and what locations are you applying to jobs in?

East coast. Mainly looking to apply to the popular tech hubs in the west coast like California. I might apply to some areas in the east coast like NYC or Pittsburgh.

• Are you only applying to local jobs? Remote only? Are you willing to relocate?

Yes, willing to relocate. Not looking to apply locally. Remote is not a consideration.

• Is there a particular section on your resume you’d like feedback on?

I think my first internship (paid) for the nonprofit is the weakest. I'm not really sure what to do with it but I figure that experience beats out projects, so I just added it there. Not sure if I should take it out and slot in some kind of cool project to better align with my interests (backend, big data, distributed systems). If there's some kind of technology you think i should pick up and do a project on that would target my interests, let me know.

• Is your citizenship status and visa situation playing a role in your job search?

Not a concern; I am a US citizen. Thank you for your time!
