A Newbie Experience - Beleafer
I recently got into this over the last month and after deep diving into recommendations here, I got a Rogue 2 and placed a few sample orders with a couple of vendors.
I'm not a smoker I've never had a good experience any time I tried type 1 (anxious, paranoia, and racing thoughts) so I suspect thc sensitivity but I was looking for something to relax at night and to help w/ general anxiety and adhd which led me here.
I was also hoping to cut alcohol b/c I was looking to lose some weight wanted to cut some empty calories out.
I ended up starting with Beleafer as my first purchase based on the general hype I was seeing at the time.
I tried smoking a few strains but really didn't like it so I've stuck to the dry herb vape almost exclusively (usually around 360F, occasionally bumping up to 380, then 400 to finish the bowl. I did not like the dosing capsule experience so I loaded ground flower directly.
# Beleafer
- Violet Sour 5/10:
I'm glad I started this one as it was recommended for its low thc. However, I quickly outgrew it. The taste wasn't great in the Rogue 2 and basically tasted like burnt popcorn the whole time at 360F or higher.
- Milky Whey CBG 7/10:
Okay taste in the dhv. I enjoyed this at the end of the evenings on days I worked out a few hours before bed. It seemed to ease some tension in my shoulders but I did have more of an 'upper' feeling from them so I've stopped using it in the evenings lately. However, I never really enjoyed it by itself so I have been basically mixing it with other strains as a topper. It seems to extend some sessions for me and also really kicks up the vapor production on some of the 'duller' strains. It's a 10/10 for versatility and one of those I'd probably always want to keep around but didn't personally like it by itself.
- Alpine CBC 7/10:
I've got a lot to say about this one. This was crazy dry and basically tasted like sucking on plant leaves to me and always left an unpleasant taste in my mouth, even if I tried it as a topper when I first tried it. I put a Bovada pack in the jar and didn't touch it for about a month and when I came back to it, it was a better experience. I still got that unpleasant aftertaste but the taste during the session was less offensive this time around an I got to really notice and appreciate the effects. This was noticeably relaxing and calming. I did two bowls back-to-back one day and I got some body tingling/numbness during the onset and got super cold and took a hot shower and put a hoodie on (it was 70 in the house and I was freezing). Other than that, this seems to last longest of anything I've tried so far (2+ hours). If I have it too close to bed, I end up with night sweats (repeatable on 2 separate nights) so while it was good for post-workout recovery/chilling, it definitely didn't work for me for bedtime/nighttime.
- Grape Goddess 5/10:
This is my least favorite from Beleafer. It was kind of harsh to me, even at 360f so I haven't tried it again after the initial trial. I have it in a jar w/ a Bovada pack and may go back to it at some point, but this might be something I dump out to be honest.
- Rocket Sauce 6/10:
I don't really love uplifting/sativa type effects, but this one wasn't terrible. The initial onset was fast, and I felt my hr raise and that initial tension, but it faded quickly. I liked this one mixed with cbg but I don't have many opportunities to enjoy 'daytime' strains.
- Legendary Jack Herer 6/10:
Garlic and onion flavors in the dhv. This produced the biggest vapor clouds of the bunch by itself. Feelings didn't come on rushed like rocket sauce, but I felt it in my chest around that 5-10 min mark after the session. Overall, it was a mild uplifting feeling. I would probably choose this over rocket sauce at the moment b/c it was a much lighter feeling. It also only lasted maybe 30 minutes.
- Royal OG 7/10:
I probably enjoyed this one the most by itself and it didn't taste like burnt popcorn quickly. These produced some nice chill effects. I felt a warmness in my legs a few minutes after the session which was super interesting. These body heady type strains are definitely what I like after trying these. Originally I ranked this a 9/10 but after trying a few other strains, I couldn't rate this higher. Turns our this was from their 2023 harvest so that may be why. I'm going to try this one from a few other places b/c I did really like it initially.
Not really much to add as I know many of these have been posted before but from a newbie perspective, these were a mostly decent introduction to type 3 flower. Other than that back-to-back bowl session of alpine cbc, none of these felt super overwhelming to me though I should have probably noticed from this initial pattern that I wasn't going to like many sativa leaning strains (with some notable exceptions).
I will be ordering from Beleafer again and trying more Indica leaning strains from them.
I may post more later on as I placed orders from horn creek and fern valley after this initial batch.
