Paludarium Terrestrial Mix That Will Not Release Too Many Nutrients
I would like an idea for a substrate mix for the land portion of my paludarium that sits about an inch above the surface of the water. I don’t want bark (it’ll leach tannins), I do not want to add sphagnum moss (I heard that it’ll decrease the pH of the aquarium by leaching acids too much). I am thinking of coco coir, lava rock, aquasoil, worm castings, and charcoal. I am looking for a paludarium mix that will not foul the water excessively, even if it were to fall into the water by accident.
How does this sound?
