Day 0, and so many problems already. Help?

M/44, 260lb, 6’0.

Long story short: my GP retired, so I’ve been using one of those pay-per-visit clinics and seeing a NP. I specifically asked about Zepbound for weight loss, she wrote the prescription same day, and then when I got to the pharmacy, it was for Mounjaro 5mg.

Issue 1: the dosage. My pharmacist caught it, and recommended a lower dose to start. I’m dealing with that.

Issue 2: I’m not diabetic. I know they’re the same, but I’m wondering if there could be insurance issues. Should I have pushed harder for Zepbound specifically?

Issue 3: I was mentally prepared to bite the bullet and pay out of pocket instead of going through insurance, but now I’m seeing people online saying I’m basically throwing money away. I don’t know what to do, how to pursue insurance, or if there’s even a point in trying.

I just need some practical advice and maybe a little reassurance that I haven’t completely screwed this up. I’m considering giving up.

Hey, this threw me off a bit and I’m wondering if it’s normal in Canada or elsewhere.

I’m 44, male, 260lb, 6’0, and non-diabetic with no other health issues.

I went to a nurse practitioner (I don’t have a family doctor right now) specifically to ask about Zepbound, but when I picked it up at the pharmacy it was Mounjaro instead.

The dosing is 5 mg for four weeks, then jumping to 10 mg for another four weeks.

I wasn’t expecting the switch or that dosing schedule, so now I’m second-guessing whether this is standard practice or if something got mixed up. Anyone else had this happen?

Note: the pharmacist mentioned the size of the dose, and he offered to call the person who prescribed it today to confirm before I start the injections.
