This fuel crisis could last for a while. It’s time for a new approach to fuel use – end it

A good article by two top Western Australian experts

In a matter of days, Canberra found billions of dollars to make petrol and diesel cheaper. The temporary halving of the fuel excise is costing about $2.55 billion over three months (plus GST returns), simply to blunt the pain of oil prices without changing Australia’s dependence on oil.

Second hand EV - still good for

We did 750 kms from Pemberton to Geraldton yesterday.

We stopped to 40 mins at the Kings Park supercharger and then for 15 at Jurien. So 9 hour trip.

Our 2022 model 3 was originally rated 615kms and is probably now low 500s capacity.

So point is that a 500km wltp rated and older EV is still damned fine for road trips even though the highway speed range is probably 450k actual versus high 400s actual when new.
