So when I first learned about the king in yellow I tried finding other stuff related to or about it, and one of the things that came up was True Detective. Now in my experience any amd every cop show Ive seen is some corny ass low quality unrealistic shit that goes through every unwanted trope that exists so naturally I assumed True detectives was like that and I also assumed the KIY stuff was some stupid metaphor you'd need like four PhDs related to media literacy to understand, but in my boredom I actually gave the show a chance and holy shit its actually one of my top 5 favorite shows now!
