TL;DR: i bought this new clarinet and the D/A key is way too high

I just bought this horn after a few years of playing on a Selmer, when i played it for the first time i had a really hard time playing below D and realized that the D/A key was way too high. I can get the pad to seal but i have to press way too hard and I’m really close to the rid in front of the trill keys. It’s almost like the plastic itself is too tall? When the pad is down, so much of the plastic is above the key so it’s almost impossible to get a good sound without really modifying how I play. The Selmer i play sits flush when the pad is pressed so I’m fairly certain this isn’t normal?

How would I go about fixing this? What should I tell a technician in order to really explain the problem accurately

Husband has been given a few coins of his great grand fathers, and this was sandwiched between a few other Indian cents. This is the only one with this kind of text across the front? We’re super curious as to what this is and can’t find any answers online
