PSA: If your saltwater pool is crystal clear and you haven’t added any chemicals to it besides salt, it’s time to start saving for new equipment.

Salt water chlorine generation produces a few other elements that work to drive the pH up in tandem with chlorine. If your water is clear, and has been for some time, without any inputs from you, the pH is likely approaching 10. Nothing can grow in water like that, that’s why it’s clear. There are very clear springs in Yellowstone that will dissolve an entire buffalo in 24 hours. Imagine what that does to your pool equipment.

Just wondering what you guys would charge for that. I think the number is much higher. I can’t buy the paint for that kind of money.
